Maison Dulval was built around some of my earliest memories. Memories of the men in my family looking smart, respectable, and quietly confident.
The town my family came from.
My father grew up in a small town in northeastern France, in a hardworking family of five boys. They didn't have a great deal, but presentation mattered. Respectability mattered.
My father often spoke about his childhood and how little they had, but one thing remained constant: people took pride in how they presented themselves. Shoes were polished. Shirts were pressed. Sunday best was worn with pride for church.
As a child, I watched my father, my uncles, and the men around me prepare for family gatherings. Crisp collars. Freshly ironed shirts and shiny shoes. Those early memories stayed with me.
Even as a young boy, I remember walking with my mother, pausing outside shop windows, studying beautifully tailored clothing and well-made shoes we couldn't afford. I learned simply by observing.
That was where my appreciation for quality began.
What I grew up watching.
For my family, clothing was never just about appearance. It was also about confidence, self-respect, and a quiet sense of pride.
The men I admired may have worn the same clothes every Sunday for Church but they looked fresh, smart, well groomed and felt good about themselves.
The belief that what you wear can affect how you feel has stayed with me throughout my life.
The move to New York.
After meeting my American wife whilst working in the retail industry, I took a leap of faith and moved to New York.
It was a fresh start, but I carried those French values with me. I wasn't leaving my roots behind. I was bringing them somewhere new.
With the support of my wife and a small team in the early days, we built a small independent clothing store centred around something I deeply believed in: quality menswear that helps people feel good about themselves.
What I couldn't find.
When I arrived in America, I often found myself searching for the same standards I had grown up admiring. Thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and clothing made with care.
That became part of the reason Maison Dulval was created.
We wanted to offer quality menswear that reflects the same pride and quiet self respect I grew up admiring. Pieces chosen not simply because they look good, but because they meet our standards for quality, fit, and finish.
Attention to detail matters to us. Always.
Long before I understood fashion, I understood how clothing made people feel.

Because my earliest memories of style came from the male role models in my life. My father. My uncles. The ritual of getting dressed properly. The pride in looking smart.
